Endangered flowers

The significance of endangered flowers is often overlooked. This is concerning as these flowers are not only some of the most eccentric and beautiful, but also hold potential as crucial sources of medicine, like antibiotics. These endangered species are starting to become extinct before we are able to fully understand the scope of their importance.

In this women’s line, I aim to raise environmental awareness for them and advocate for conservation by creating patterns featuring motifs inspired by these flowers.

Created in collaboration with the design director of prAna Living.

Endangered flower 1

Kadupul flower

process

I painted the flowers and similar motifs with watercolors. Since these flowers are white, I focused on the colors of the shadows.

The watercolors are then scanned into Adobe Illustrator and turned into vectors.

A repeating pattern is created using the vectors.
